On July 24th 2011, same-sex marriage became legal in U.S state New York. The law was passed under the Marriage Equality act, which was passed on June 24th 2011 by the New York State Legislature and  signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo on the same day. The Marriage Equality Act  does not have a “residency restriction” like other states. Religious organizations are allowed to decline officiating the same-sex wedding ceremonies.

I feel this is a great thing that has happened. I personally think the world needs to legalize gay marriage everywhere. My opinion is that people should be happy no matter what. Love is love, sex should never matter in a situation like that. People need, and deserve to be happy. There should be no reason why people need to judge other people from who they are in love with and want to be with for the rest of their life. People are and can be really mean when it comes to that subject, which makes me angry and frustrated because I know gay people and when people make fun of him and I’m with him, it makes me emotionally upset and feel bad for everything he must be going through. Legalizing gay marriage everywhere would be the right thing to do in my opinion.
